Eventful Start to Long Season for Pittman

Titan Racing USA

BARBERVILLE, Fla. -- Daryn Pittman’s been around long enough to know one thing for certain; it’s a long season ahead despite the trials and tribulations at Florida Speedweeks, and so the team move onward after an eventful time of it over the last three nights.

The fluoro chassis is a big hit with fans and rival teams and once again the Titan Team are one of the leaders when it comes to racecar, hauler and team presentation.

The competition in Florida was typically keen with the field in qualifying being incredibly tight across the 56 cars including 24 of which being WoO cars!

A key ambition this season for Daryn and Team Titan is to qualify well and in that respect all goals were met on all three nights with stout times put in by the flying #21 jet black Maxim.

“The time trails were so close,” says Titan Team Manager Mandy Pittman, “even one tenth separated 11th place qualifying to 24th! A very close field that’s for sure!”

Night One saw Pitto qualify on pole for the A-Main but a tangle with lapped car during the race saw a wing post on the #21 damaged and the car was a total handful for over half the race.

Daryn battled to bring home the ill-handling bullet to an eventual 9th position.

Night Two saw Daryn advance from a long way back in the A-Main to run 9th after starting 18th!

The final night promised plenty for the Titan chargers with Pittman qualifying 3rd quickest, placing 3rd in the heat race and finishing 8th in the A-Main to set up a good chance for a big result.

Unfortunately the A-Main would end prematurely when Jason Meyers’ car moved into the path of the Titan #21 on lap 14 just as Pitto had moved up to the 5th position and the resultant impact saw Daryn out of the event early.

“The boys are just sorting out the kinks of the new car and we’ll be where we want to be,” says Mandy Pittman, “the Florida event wasn’t what we’d hoped for but if we’re going to have some bad luck we’d rather have it early. After all, it’s a long season ahead and this is just the beginning.”
