The Late Models from FMS and DMS can run at CLR without any changes , from the rules I have seen. Most CLR Late Models are allowed to run at FMS and DMS without any changes. CLR allows a Bowtie Block. CLR allows each of the following with a weight penalty : a dry sump oil system, a roller cam, and port and polished heads. However most do not run any of the listed.

Most of the Super Stock from FMS can run at CLR without any changes. FMS allows stock front clip with rear tube cars to run with a weight penalty. And adjustable shocks. Not sure how many fall into this cetegory. The Thunder & Lightning at CLR allows stud girdles, a 1" carburetor spacer, and specified Dart or World Products heads.

These are the only differences that I know of.

Re: If Wayne County Opens...... What Rules? - 02-13-2008, 11:58 PM

FMS, Dublins, and Clarys (and I dont think they will change much) are pretty much the same, so I guess my question is why would CLR not try and get closer to these 3 tracks rules??? Is it not easier for 1 track to change rules than 3?

The reason alot of CLR cars did not run Wayne County in the past is because of such rule varations.

A little history......... When we ran Kings we took the rules from FMS and made them the same, well that same winter after the rules were posted, WCS rules came out and were the same as FMS and Kings.....When the Clary's reopened thier track, they made the rules the same as Kings so cars could run there with no changes. plus they may could lure a few away from the other tracks with the LARGE purses they were paying........... So what I am getting at here is EVERY TRACK EXCEPT CLR pretty much have the same rules.

Late Models are pretty much the same at every track. They are not the bigger issue.

But the CLR rules havent changed and our racers shouldnt have to spend as much as they do at other tracks. im sorry but a stock snout car in super street??? thats a little far out there. the ONLY class that the stock snout car should be sportsman. these 4 bar cars in sportsman should be in late model. but thats my opinion

There are not suppose to be any 4 bar cars in sportsman......CLARY'S fomer track leasers let one run the last race, they thought it would beat Kelly Moore, but Kelly still spanked them...........

Wesley I think you must be mixed up a little bit on what STOCK SNOUT and AFTER MARKET (Round Bar or Square Tube) snouts are.

Stock Snouts should be used in anything that has the word Stock or Street in it ........ After market for Sportsman, Late Model etc......

Re: If Wayne County Opens...... What Rules? - 02-14-2008, 12:35 AM

what should be used and what IS used are two different things. i dont think anything with a tube chassis should be in anything lower than sportsman. Now what i consider a "TRUE" sportsman car is one that has a stock camaro snout with tubing from the front firewall back. these cars should be forced to run sportsman and not in super street. i think a super street should be a camaro with a stock chassis and some aftermarket suspension. give them a somewhat large motor and let them go racing. Pure stock should be exactly that. stock chassis and stock suspension.

FMS Limited Late Models can come to CLR and run up front. We have the 07 LM driven by Britches Liles that runs at CLR, runs up front and win races, It has a engine build to the rules of Limited Late Model at FMS

If Wayne County opens the rules are like Clary's and the rules apply to all then that would be great because JC and Marcia do a very good job. They also try to be honest with all racers.

Im not an chassis builder, and I dont know that there is one greater single advantage, but placement of Motor usually is set back, offset is altered, less weight, therefore allows you to place weight where you need it...... This is just a few, someone like Buddy Isles Sr. would be able to tell you a whole lot better than I could.

Thanks. I don't understand how the motor position would change from it's original location, but it makes sense that the front end could be lighter giving someone a possible edge due to increased flexibility with weight placement.

Thanks again for the feedback. I need to know this stuff so that I'll be ready to build my race car when I'm 60.

Really depends where the chassis builder welds the engine mounts.

Don't mean to get off topic, but all Bloomquist race car chassis (Him, Jimmy Owens, Chris Madden and Eric Jacobson, the motor sets back further on the chassis, more than any other chassis. And those drivers have great success.
